iPhone: One year later

We just got back from a family vacation to Colorado, and it occurred to me to describe just how much I use my iPhone and how useful it has become.

During our trip, I used my iPhone to:

  • Get GPS directions to our destinations
  • Estimate travel times to keep friends and family up to date on our arrivals
  • Monitor our speed when the spedometer decided to konk out
  • Search for a motel on the way as we adjusted plans
  • Update my Twitter feeds
  • Check in on Facebook
  • Find a Mexican restaurant with reviews and decided that the place needed a negative one after our meal
  • Find a specific YouTube video to show someone
  • Take pictures
  • Deal with some email so I wouldn't be overwhelmed upon return
  • Assist one of my team with a server outage
  • Listen to music
  • Listen to podcasts with engaging content
  • Research and book our whitewater rafting trip
  • Search eBay and participate in an auction
  • See that the tornado sirens going off did not warrant our seeking shelter after looking up weather details
  • See that the heavy rainstorm we entered was a small cell that we could easily outrun rather than wait out
  • Check in on our bank accounts
  • Read Iran election coverage
  • Upload a note to myself about an idea I had

I'd like to think I am a bit more than just an excited fanboy because that is a pretty good list of things.
