About Mike Bohlmann

I was born to Chuck and Cheryl Bohlmann who live just outside of Crescent City, Illinois. After high school, I graduated the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in German with a business administration minor. Along the way, through the greatest moment of happenstance in my life, I ended up studying for a year in Vienna, Austria. I recently earned a Master of Science degree in Management Information Systems at University of Illinois at Springfield.

After working for CollaTech (now a bankrupt dot com) as a web developer and mail order store manager, I landed a job as a system administrator and web geek at SoMat. Once I had worked there for nearly two years, I realized I really wanted to get back into doing serious web development and started working at RoundTable Media. The frenzied pace and tight budgets of the agency environment triggered me to find employment with the Office of Technology Management at the University of Illinois. This position gives me a great deal of opportunity to do IT management as well as do a lot of day-to-day support and implementation within a great support structure.

One of the things I enjoy the most but don't get to do as often as I like is traveling. When I studied in Vienna, I went to Berlin, Prague, Rome, Salzburg, Slovenia, Croatia, and a lot of other little places as well. For trips after that, I've taken a two week vacation in Britain to visit friends. I have also made the road trip of all road trips to Mardi Gras which consisted of 24 hours of driving for one day of being at Mardi Gras. Besides these journeys, I try to make it out to West Virginia once a year for whitewater rafting on the New River or Gauley River.
